Portuguese and Brazilian Portuguese are two varieties of the same language, like British and American English. Grammar and vocabulary are mostly the same, but accents and expressions differ.
For example, "bus" is autocarro in Portugal and ônibus in Brazil. Even greetings vary: Olá, tudo bem? is common in Brazil, while Olá, tudo fixe? might be heard in Portugal.
Yes and no. Brazilian Portuguese is famous for its friendly, musical sound and relaxed vibe, which can make speaking feel easier and more fun. The grammar is fairly regular, and if you know Spanish or another Romance language, you’ll spot lots of familiar words.
But you’ll also need to get used to unique pronunciation (like nasal sounds) and colorful local slang.
